I don’t know how to normally write posts on some big dates, because I have nothing special to say, in my opinion. But at least it's worth a try.
I remember how I was looking for where it would be more convenient to share my works, in addition to other social networks, since I was not very lucky with them. And to be honest, my English skills are not very good. Just at this time, there was a wave of nostalgia for the Flesh and hype for a game that cannot be named. And all paths led to Newgrounds. After looking at the site from the outside, I decided to register for the test. "Anyway, it couldn't get any worse," I thought.
The first works that I posted were either recent or work for practice/portfolio. It was unexpected for me when my work got frontpage:
And another one:
But even with this work, I received a lot of positive feedback. Even more I got it under work for Pico day! Actually, this is what made me stay on the site.
And yeah, thank you, MindChamber for the comment!
After some time, I came to the NGP discord server during the Art Office Hours event. Later, on the server, began to practice spoken English more (to the level of "so that you would be more or less understood") and try to understand what people are talking about and understand the essence of the conversation.
And I met many cool people, with whom I am pleased to communicate and who helped me in one way or another! Especially, Halve, SPANGLESNG and itsreddqueen who give me advice and motivation to do my shit, Ugasisvelta and FelipeNoel who often follow what I do and periodically throw ideas for shitposts and regular drawings. You are all wonderful! С:
Among the series from this site, I was more interested in Madness Combat. Maybe because I've been craving action/ultraviolence content lately. To make it both serious and funny, for men to beat the shit out of each other and- And then I should stop and move on to another stuff :P
I can't call myself a hardcore fan, rather I just enjoyer. Periodically, I watch and create content. And, to my regret, I haven't watched most of the fan animations and plan to do it soon before the iron curtain closes completely.
Unfortunately, I don't have too many complete works
There is also work for Madness Day but due to an acute attack of covid, I could not finish it. I'll try to redo it in the future, because it's too annoying for my eyes :V
For the most part, if I try to draw something for MC, then a shitpost comes out (more on my twitter :V)
And I made so many shitposts that Krinkels followed me back on Twitter (and seriously, i don't know why).
Also I signed up to work on a MC fanzine from Russian-speaking fans but because of the well-known events on the edge of Eastern Europe, work on it had to be suspended for an indefinite period, since the organizers live in Ukraine. We hope that soon this madness will end and we can switch to artistic madness.
Speaking of other things that happened this year: I managed to graduate from college, get several job rejections, lose a close relative, get a job, try to find a new path in drawing and meet the beginning of a new war. There was not much joy this year, but those rare moments that have been so far make me happy.
And now I don't know what will be next. In Russia, government agencies actively block various Internet resources and social networks. For example, I can't use Twitter properly without a VPN.
I want to keep in touch with followers and those I have met and become friends with this year. The fact that the iron curtain will close soon scares me, but I still hope that Newgrounds does not fall under the blocking. Or at least that it will work fine through VPN :V
In any case, I want to say thank you to everyone who supported me and my work! Whatever the case, I'll try to do what I do.
Thank you for reading this post!
Take care of yourself and have a good one!
And as a bonus:
MchectorII
Happy Anniversary and keep up the great work!
